2016 Scholarships

AIA Dayton Scholarship Recipients

Two recipients have been selected to receive AIA Dayton Architectural Scholarships: Alissa Cook, a 2016 Miamisburg High School graduate; and Anna Kick, a member of the Class of 2018 School of Architecture and Interior Design Program at the University of Cincinnati. Ms. Cook was awarded a $2,000 scholarship and Ms. Kick received a $1,000 scholarship. AIA Dayton was awarded a $1,000 matching grant from the American Institute of Architects in support of the scholarship program.

Alissa CookAlissa Cook is a 2016 Miamisburg High School graduate and a College Credit Plus Student (CCP) at Sinclair Community College and at the University of Dayton. CCP gives students the opportunity earn college credit before graduating high school. Alissa was a member of the National Honor Society and a three-year varsity athlete in bowling, holding team and individual records. She established a Student Mentorship Program to connect freshman students with seniors, writing the guidelines for student mentors and working with the school administrators for approval. She was also an elementary math tutor. Alissa will be studying architecture at Miami University in Oxford in the Fall 2016.

Anna KickAnna Kick is a member of the Class of 2018 School of Architecture and Interior Design Program at the University of Cincinnati. She was a member of AIAS Cincinnati her freshman year, was her residence hall president her freshman then treasurer her sophomore years, and is currently a member of the Fashion and Architecture Band and the UC Hepcats Swing Dance Club. She graduated from Centerville High School in 2014 with honors.

Anna is currently in a co-op program at CESO Inc, an engineering and architecture firm specializing in site development, survey, transportation and utility infrastructure in Dayton, creating construction documents for both commercial and residential buildings.
