AIA Dayton is announcing the 2012 Art in Architecture Student Design Competition. This student competition has been hosted by AIA Dayton for the past 28 years. This year’s event will be sponsored by the Masonry Institute of Dayton (www.masonryindayton.com) and will receive special assistance from the American Institute of Architecture Students from Miami University. This year’s program is to design a bakery. As custom cakes & cupcakes are becoming more popular Cake, Hope & Love (www.cakehopeandlove.com) is asking for a building design that could be in front of Kettering’s Town & Country Shopping Center.

A big ‘Thank You’ goes out to AIA Dayton members, exhibitors and sponsors! The recently completed (Sept 15 – 17) AIA OVR Convention in Dayton was a huge success. While awaiting official figures, the attendance best guesstimate is 375 architects and design professionals for the Convention and UnConvention.

 

GDFA 2012 CalendarAIA Dayton is proud to present the 2012 Greater Dayton's Favorite Architecture Calendar, featuring the winning photographs from the Greater Dayton’s Favorite Architecture photo contest.

The calendar grew out of an AIA Dayton project to identify Greater Dayton’s Favorite Architecture. During the Fall of 2010 many buildings and other structures in the AIA Dayton nine-county jurisdiction were nominated by both architects and the general public. In Spring 2011 AIA Dayton sponsored a photography competition of local architecture and the built environment to collect additional nominations.

The AIA Dayton Architecture Scholarship Fund of The Dayton Foundation was established to encourage and assist students graduating from high schools in the Dayton/Miami Valley region to pursue a degree in architecture at a college or university with a NAAB accredited architecture program. The fund is administered by AIA Dayton-a chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Application deadline is March 2. For more information and application click here.
