Art In Architecture Student Design Competition 2008

AIA Dayton is pleased to announce the 2008 Art in Architecture Student Design Competition. The program is designed for high school students, grade 9 through 12, interested in art, architecture, or design. The competition is being assisted by the the Miami University chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students and is open to all students within AIA Dayton’s nine-county geographic region (Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby Counties) and/or zip codes beginning with 453, 454, 455, and 458.

AIA Dayton has been sponsoring this program for over 25 years. This will be the fifth year that Miami University Architecture students and faculty will be joining us to serve as mentors and share in the learning activities. AIA Dayton will be offering some great prizes, including college scholarships and book awards.

The event is limited to the first 60 students who return their registration form with the $20 per student registration fee. The schedule begins with a charrette, which is a fun, fast-paced creative workshop on January 19, 2008. Working with AIA Dayton architects and Miami University Architecture students, participants will enjoy creative and challenging design exercises. The session will end with some hands-on activities to jump-start everyone’s designs for the competition.
