The 2010 program was to design a clubhouse for the Caeser Creek Soaring Club in Waynesville, OH. (www.soarccsc.com) The Caesar Creek Soaring Club provides flight instruction, introduction flights for the general public, and private flights for its 200+ members. Soaring is a sport where a tow plane will drag the sailplane up to 2500'-5000' and then let the sailplane glide to the ground. In addition the club hosts monthly cookouts as well as providing camping sites.
The schedule begins with a charrette, which is a fun, fast-paced creative workshop on January 30, 2010. Working with AIA Dayton architects and Miami University Architecture students, participants will enjoy creative and challenging design exercises. The session will end with some hands-on activity to jump-start everyone's designs for the competition. All of the exercises are easy and enjoyable, requiring no special drawing or design skills. Teachers are encouraged to participate in the charrette with their students. All you need to bring is an open mind and a positive attitude. We will supply the art materials, snacks, and lunch.
