AIA Dayton Recognizes Excellence in 2016 Design Awards

On Tuesday, October 25 the American Institute of Architects, Dayton Chapter held its biennial Focus on Design Awards Program at the Yellow Cab Tavern on East Fourth Street, Dayton.

This salute to design excellence was established to promote and focus attention on Miami Valley architecture firms producing quality and high performance design in adherence to the American Institute of Architect’s 10 Principles of Livable Communities.

In the Interior Projects category, one award was given:

  • MODA4 Design received an Honor Award for the DataYard office project.

In the Newly Completed Buildings, Additions, Renovations, Restorations category, four awards were made: 

  • Annette Miller Architects received a Merit Award for the Wright State University Rike Hall Coffee Bar addition, and a Merit Award for the Wright State University Student Suceess Center.
  • Ruetschle Architects received an Honorable Mention for the Northwest Branch Library of the Dayton Metro Library.
  • Earl Reeder Associates received an Honorable Mention for Allée Arbor at Cox Arboretum Metropark.

The 2016 jury was comprised of representatives from the American Institute of Architects Birmingham, Alabama. Philip Black, AIA, of Simonton Swaika Black Architects served as the jury chair. Platinum sponsors of the event were Pella Windows & Doors; Snyder Brick & Block; and Business Furniture. Underwriters of the event were Heapy Engineering; Shook Construction; Shell & Meyer Engineering; Koroseal; Oberer Thompson Company; Spohn Associates; Allegion; 3form; Hamilton Parker; and Long and Associates.
