Many thanks to all golfers and event sponsors who made this event an incredible success. There were a record number of golfers (141) who participated in this year's AIA Dayton Golf Outing. The outing netted about $8,000, including $770 through the sale of Mulligans which directly benefits the AIA Dayton Architectural Scholarship Fund. One of AIA Dayton’s three 2007 scholarship recipients, Chelsea Powell, a graduate of Miami Valley School who will be studying architecture at the University of Cincinnati this fall, was present at the golf outing dinner and was presented with a certificate recognizing her achievement. The other two scholarship recipients, Ryan Benson of Piqua High School and Anna Chifala of Oakwood High School were moving into the dorms at Miami University and were unable to attend. The AIA Dayton scholarship is a joint program between the local chapter and AIA National. AIA National provided matching funds to the local chapter to enable AIA Dayton to award a total of $4,000 this year. Lynn App, AIA and founder of the original AIA Dayton scholarship program along with his wife, Ruth, was presented a plaque of recognition for his dedication to furthering the education of aspiring architectural students from the Miami Valley as he steps down from the scholarship committee after many years of service.
